The 17 year anniversary marks an important milestone for the
company as we look back at our humble beginnings, our growth and
accomplishments which is premised on the relationships built over the years
with clients, staff and the community in which we operate.
It is particularly at this time that we find it appropriate to thank everyone who has been involved in supporting BICS over the years. Our success has been possible because of the support from our customers who rely on our products and services and our incredible team.
A warm thank you to all our clients and partners who we share this success with and we continue to look forward to this partnerships for a foreseeable future.
The empowerment of businesswomen should not begin or end on Women’s Day. For real women empowerment to happen it requires sustainability intervention throughout the year.
Of particular importance is that women represents about 51% of the South African population and therefore represent a majority shareholder of South Africa Incorporated yet have remained mostly unrecognized in the mainstream decision making of the economy. It has, therefore, more than ever before become very important to assert ourselves and continue to play in the development of woman in South Africa.
This is a day that promotes the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases in the workplace.
BICS calls to all organisations to recognise this day, as we all know accidents happen and this is why we believe in taking precautionary measures keeping employees safe in the work environment.
According to a United Nations article every day, 6,300 people die as a result of occupational accidents or work-related diseases – more than 2.3 million deaths per year. 317 million accidents occur on the job annually; many of these resulting in extended absences from work.
As a supplier of laboratory equipment, we also supply safety and health gear for the work environment like ample other companies that supply safety gear. It is safe to say that we all can play our part in keeping safe and healthy in the workplace
“No one should have to sacrifice their life for their livelihood, because a nation built on the dignity of work must provide safe working conditions for its people.” -Thomas E. Perez Secretary of Labor, OSHA
23 April 2018 – World Laboratory day – BICS would like to wish all people and organizations within the science and laboratory industries, a Happy World laboratory day
World Laboratory Day celebrates an environment where great discoveries, inventions, and medical cures are born.
We believe South Africa’s youth has been an excellent example, particularly when it comes to innovation, we discover a new generation of game-changers on the scene. On this day we celebrate the likes of LUDWICK MARISHANE who’s made a global impact. The 27-year-old South African entrepreneur came up with the idea for Dry Bath, a product that enables individuals to take a bath without any access to water. In 2011, Ludwick was esteemed as the best student entrepreneur in the world and in the very same year Google named him one of the ‘12 Brightest Young Minds in the World’, and to top it off in December 2013 TIME magazine named him one of the thirty people under thirty who is changing the world. He was one of only two Africans on the list.’
As we mark this day, we at BICS are optimistic when we see the commitment of young people. If we solve the most pressing issues of our time and tap into the dynamism of youth movements and young social entrepreneurs, for they have the potential to be the most creative forces for social change.
